Speaker Name: John Carter
Speaker Title: Project Manager, IT Client Services
Speaker Bio: John has 20 years experience in the IT industry, having held a variety of positions in both the private and public sectors. John has been with the City of Ottawa since 2006, currently holding the position of Project Manager, IT Client Services. In his current role, John is responsible for implementing IT Service Management processes for the ITS department, as well as improvements to the software tools that support those processes. In both 2013 and 2017, one of John’s ITSM projects was nominated for the Pink Elephant Project of the Year award. John has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary’s University, and also obtained a diploma in Information Technology.
Session Title: Taking the IT out of ITSM
Session Description: At the City of Ottawa, the successful implementation of an ITSM tool has had benefits well beyond just the IT department. After seeing the success of the Service Management tool in IT, several non-IT client groups came knocking on IT’s door looking for help with their own request management processes. To date, 17 different City of Ottawa non-IT client groups have implemented a Service Management tool, including HR, Payroll, Corporate Security, and Finance. In this session, you will learn how you can take your ITSM tool from an IT business application to an enterprise wide solution.
